"So basically, all of this terrible stuff happens to Job and instead of getting super pissed at God like most of us would, he praises Him instead—but WAIT! What is that he does first? He GETS NAKED. He exposes himself. He bares himself for all that he is for everyone to see.
But what do these naked Bible stories have to do with us now?
Look back at Adam and Eve—they were fully exposed within the perfection of their lives. There were no secrets in their world. They had the freedom to fully be themselves. Fear of intimacy? That would have meant nothing to them. And Job—in his moment of desperation, in an attempt to reach towards God, he rips his clothes off! He destroys all walls between him and everything else. Regardless of your belief in these stories, I hope that you can still see the symbolism within. Here we are—miserable and alone. Is it not possible that we are so lonely because of our attraction to these masks we love to wear? I just think that we might be a little less miserable if we expose ourselves to one another—if we conquer this awful fear of intimacy. Rather than living at a cautious distance next to each other, we should take the step to better know our fellow man. I am simply proposing that we get emotionally and relationally naked together.
