narrative genre has two semantic genres: time and purposed speech.
Some words used for language description: "Spatial anchoring" and "situating devices."
Prefixes and suffixes are mind blowingly specific and incredibly visual. Amazing.

The beginning of each session you could feel their uncertainty of your affection, attention, or purpose for the project.
Question after question after question stories started to unearth.
It's interesting to see the "mentor" reaction to the student as well, when the story is not your typical storybook story, but something like "my mom died. My grandmother's diabetes....etc.
One of my favorites was a story about a Marta bus accident and how she was excited cause she got to ride in the new ambulance, which - is way roomier than the old ones.
And. The "rewarding" thing of the day was when quiet Mary who "doesn't really care about anything" looked at me and said, "that was good conversation."
Boy. I freaking love this junk.
And I think I'm okay having students write about the fact that they'll always wonder if Grady killed their uncle. Because you know, that's real life. Meh.
And eventually we'll get to some good good things, like the funny birthday stories or when your nephews tonka trunk gets run over flat smuched.
